WH QUESTIONS WITH AUXILIARY VERBS
THE GERUND VS THE INFINITIVE
We use gerunds (verb + ing):
- After to be verb - I am cooking
- After certain verbs - I enjoy cooking
- After prepositions - I drink a cup of water before eating a meal
- As the subject or object of a sentence - Cooking is an art
We use 'to' + infinitive:
- After certain verbs - We need to cut the onion
- After many adjectives - It's hard to mix the ingredients fast
- To show purpose - I come to Iga to study Culinary Art
MODAL VERBS
- They don't use 's' for the third person singular.
- They make questions by inversion ('she can go' becomes 'can she go?').
- They are followed directly by the infinitive of another verb (without 'to').
- You use "not" to make modal verbs negative.
- They cannot be used in the past or future tenses.

ADJECTIVES GO FIRST
An adjective is a Word that produces a little change in a noun. In
English, adjectives usually precede, or go before, the noun they modify or describe.
In Spanish, most of the time, it is the opposite. In general, adjectives follow
the nouns they describe.
- The big kitchen (La cocina grande)
- The old apron (El mandil viejo)
- A red apple (Una manzana roja)
- I like lemon pie (Me gusta el pie de limón)
- My teacher is a tall man (Mi profesor es un hombre alto..)
- I prefer black coffee (Prefiero el café negro.)
