DRINKS

WORDS USED TO DESCRIBE DRINKS

1.       Alcoholic

Containing alcohol

2.       Non-alcoholic

A non-alcoholic drink does not contain alcohol

3.       Black

Tea or coffee that is black has no milk in it

4.       Decaffeinated

Decaffeinated coffee or tea has the caffeine removed

5.       White  

White tea or coffee has milk in it

6.       Carbonated

A carbonated drink has small bubbles of air in it

7.       Effervescent  

Producing a lot of small bubbles of air or gas

8.       Fizzy  

A fizzy drink is a sweet drink without alcohol that has bubbles. The usual american word for this is soft drink.

9.       Sparkling  

Sparkling drinks are full of bubbles

10.   Flat  

A flat drink has lost its bubbles of gas, so that it does not taste good. Soda sin gas

11.   Still  

Without gas bubbles

12.   Corked  

Corked drinks for example wines

13.   Drinkable  

Safe to drink

14.   Dry  

Dry alcoholic drinks are not sweet

15.   Medium dry  

Medium dry wine or sherry is slightly sweet

16.   Full-bodied  

A full-bodied wine, beer etc has a strong pleasant taste

17.   Intoxicating  

Capable of making you drunk

18.   Stiff  fuerte

A stiff drink contains a lot of alcohol

19.   Isotonic  

An isotonic drink or other liquid replaces substances that your body needs but has lost, for example because you have done a lot of physical exercise

20.   Light  

Food or drink that is light has less fat or alcohol than other similar food or drink.

21.   Long  

A long drink is one that is served in a tall glass

22.   Frappé  escarchado

Cold and with a lot of ice

23.   Straight  

An alcoholic drink that is straight is not mixed with anything else

24.   Undrinkable  

Not safe to drink, or tasting too bad to drink

25.   Vintage  

Vintage wine is excellent in quality and was made several years ago

26.   Watered-down  

A watered-down drink has been made weaker with water

27.   Weak  

A weak liquid contains a lot of water and not much of a substance that gives it taste or strength

28.   On the rocks

If an alcoholic drink is served on the rocks, it is served with ice

29.   Iced  

An iced drink is very cold and contains pieces of ice

30.   Straight up

Without ice

31.   Neat  

A neat alcoholic drink is served without any ice and is not mixed with any other liquid
